Dr. Stefan Mittelmaier
Dr. Stefan Mittelmaier studied food chemistry and obtained his PhD in instrumental analytics. He has been working in the pharmaceutical industry for over 10 years, starting his career at Sandoz in Kundl, Austria, as a laboratory manager in the analytical development of generics. In 2015, he joined Merck and initially led the laboratory for analytical method development and validation, cleaning validation, and manufacturing process validation in quality control at the Darmstadt site. Later, as the Head of Analytical Technology Darmstadt, he also took on responsibilities for analytical transfers, data integrity, and the local implementation and support of laboratory planning systems.
In his current role as Head of Digital Transformation in Merck's global QC unit, Dr. Mittelmaier is responsible for ensuring the implementation and operation of various digital laboratory core systems (LIMS, CDS, etc.) at Merck Healthcare KGaA's worldwide QC locations. This involves focusing not only on quality, technical, and financial aspects but also on harmonizing and improving the efficiency of QC processes in this context.
